A interesting thing, is that when games age, usually the stuff that was "polished" fall out, so if they were REALLY good, they remain good, even as "good bad".

Example is MULE, the graphics surely suck for today (maybe it sucked when it was released too, but I am not sure), but the gameplay is loads of fun.

Now look at some games that maybe even are prideful owners of above 80 metacritic scores from the 90s... Some certain today are crappy...

As soon as I read your definition of "good bad game," I found myself thinking back to all the fun I had with Earth Defense Force 2017.

Then I made it to the box art for your exemplary good bad game, and found myself thinking, "that icon in the lower right sure looks familiar." As it turns out, D3 Publisher seems to deal in good bad games.
